Title BC Card Strengthens Its Partnership with China UnionPay Date 2008.05.29
BC Card will strengthen its partnership with China UnionPay in many different areas. On May 28, BC Card President Chang Hyung-Duk visited the head office of UnionPay in Shanghai and met the President, Xu Luode, to discuss ways to expand the partnership.

Mr. Chang today suggested a possible consulting service project for the rebuilding of UnionPay’s computing system in respect of its credit card operations. In addition, new areas of cooperation, such
as joint marketing to Chinese tourists to Korea and member service expansion within the Chinese market, were discussed.

He promised his counterpart that BC Card would make extra efforts to increase UnionPay member merchants in Korea while President Xu committed to actively pursue card processing business for BC
Card in China.

President Chang also donated 500,000 yuan (US$73,000) to UnionPay for those affected by the Sichuan earthquake. He said “My deepest condolences go to the earthquake victims and my
sympathies to the surviving families and all the Chinese people.” The donation will be sent to the Red Cross Society of China, which will use the money to rebuild the communities ravaged by the disaster.

BC Card has maintained a partnership with UnionPay since 2004 when they signed an agreement to share each other’s networks. This March, the two companies have jointly issued the Zhong Guo
Tong card. Recently, the two introduced a Zhong Guo Tong Plus check card with which the user can pay for purchases and withdraw cash from an ATM.
