Title BC’s Full-Service Card Processing Future Center Opened Date 2009.03.06
BC Card has opened the “BC Future Center,” the first initiative of its kind in the industry. The Center will handle a complete set of card processing operations including card-issuing, delivery, bill payment, and others. The company held a ceremony to open the Center on March 6, with company Leadership and partner company representatives present at the gathering.

Chang Hyung-Duk, President of BC Card, said in his opening address “The Future Center will set the tone for the data centers of the future in our industry. By handling card processing operations in a more efficient manner, we expect to improve substantially the quality of credit card services.”

The BC Future Center set up shop in a six-story building (with two additional basement floors) with a total floor area of 12,600 sq. meters (136,000 sq. ft.), including all the modern amenities such as state-of-the-art communications systems, card-issuing machines, and monitoring and training rooms.

The Center is equipped with an on-site backup power generator that switches on in the event of power loss and supports uninterrupted computing operations. The card-issuing machines are capable of printing as many as 25 million cards a year, whilst the precision card transactions system ensures no-error billing.

The intelligent security system in place within the Center assigns different clearance levels to different areas. To enter the critical central monitoring room, for example, one has to go through a biometric identification system.

A BC Card official said, “The name ‘Future Center’ was the result of an open competition in which all our employees participated. The Future Center will surely play an important role in making our company a global payment settlement service provider.”

In the future, the company aims to respond strategically to the fast-changing business environment, while quickly expanding its IT infrastructure in preparation for rising challenges in relation to globalizing operations.
