CEO-elect Chang Hyung-Duk showed his eagerness to get to work by skipping the inaugural ceremony and instead sent out a memorandum to everyone in the company. In his email message, he said, “Let us work together to leap into the ranks of the world’s best credit card service providers.”

“I am honored to be part of this great organization that has grown for the past quarter century to become the largest local credit card service company, based on its core competence of excellent customer services,” he added. “But now we are faced with serious challenges following the repercussions throughout the world of the sub-prime crisis originating in the U.S.”

To overcome these challenges, he stressed, BC Card must: (1) invest aggressively in technology and make the company the best in terms of service; (2) expand partnerships with partner companies and explore business areas of mutual interest; (3) pursue overseas business that could become future growth engines; and (4) improve substantially the welfare of employees as part of its effort to raise productivity.

Mr. Chang also said, “The task of growing our company and making ourselves the best in the world is not just limited to Leadership and managers. It is a job for all of us within the company.”
