BC Card (President and CEO, Joon Hee Suh, www.bccard.com) declared it has become the new board member of FIDO (Fast Identity Online), a first feat for a financial company in Asia. BC Card has participated as a ‘sponsor’ member who is given the rights to participate in FIDO general meeting, PR and so on. As a ‘board member’, BC Card now has voting rights to consent or oppose specific policies or solutions. FIDO is an international organization that develops and declares technical specifications so that firms such as Google, Microsoft, Paypal, etc can provide safer biometric authentication technology in an online environment. BC Card has worked hard to develop and disseminate biometric authentication services during the last three years by ▲ building FIDO server ▲ applying Samsung Pay fingerprint authentication for the first time in Korea ▲ applying FIDO-based voice recognition authentication for the first time in the world. These efforts were recognized and BC Card was appointed a board member in FIDO’s regular general meeting this January in San Diego, USA. Jung Hoon Choi, head of BC Card’s fin-tech division, will be acting as the member on behalf of BC Card. This is the first for an Asian financial company and the third for a Korean company to join the FIDO board, following Samsung Electronics and CrucialTec. As a board member, BC Card will have business opportunities to propagate global standard solutions within the nation and the opportunity to be at the forefront of the technological developments, becoming the first to provide new convenient payment services. BC Card plans to strengthen its card and fin-tech businesses by using FIDO technology and also play a pivotal role in KT’s K-Bank Card-Not-Present authentication sector. CEO of BC Card, Joon Hee Suh declared, "I am excited that BC Card has been recognized for its hard work and appointed the board member of FIDO. BC Card will continue to provide better values to its customers through its fin-tech services using biometric authentication and cooperative works with other global companies." |
