BC Card (President and CEO, Joon Hee Suh, www.bccard.com) stated that it is actively promoting anti-desertification activities, planting trees with BGF Retail and Seven Eleven, using the environment fund accumulated from its ‘Paperless’ business. ‘Paperless’ business is a paperless billing project BC Card launched with Ministry of Environment, Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI), BGF Retail, Seven Eleven in 2012. It aims to reduce paper waste by printing card receipts only upon customer’s direct request. Money curtailed through this agenda is all channeled to an environment fund. BC Card along with ‘Paperless’ business partners – Ministry of Finance, KEITI, BGF Retail and Seven Elven, visited Kubuchi desert in China to plant trees as a part of anti-desertification movement, and plans to plant nearly 45 thousands trees by the end of this year. Head of BC Card’s Processing Division, Jae Sung Yue stated, "BC Card is working hand in hand with the Ministry of Environment, BGF Retail and Seven Eleven to protect our environment. With the ‘Paperless’ business, we also expect to cut down society’s unnecessary costs and help nation’s economy." Seung Bae Min who leads BGF Retails’ business support department mentioned, "We plan to communicate and create consensus with customers to reduce unnecessary printing of receipts, and also create diverse social contribution models to protect the environment." Miso Kim, a volunteer worker from Seven Eleven, expressed her excitement to joining a great cause which not only increases efficiency at Seven Eleven stores but also helps the environment. BC Card, BGF Retail and Seven Elven are at the forefront of spreading environment-friendly consumption life style throughout the nation by using the environment funds gathered from ‘Paperless’ business to create eco-friendly campaigns and more activities promoting this agenda. |
