BC Card increases Green Card offers and heads eco-friendly consumption life

BC Card (President and CEO, Joon Hee Suh, www.bccard.com) has signed an MOU on February 23rd with Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI) to foster eco-friendly consumption life with Green Card.

BC Green Card allows consumers to accumulate eco-money points when they pay for electricity, telecommunication, and apartment maintenance bills via automatic payment with their Green Card. It also provides additional discount offers when a consumer buys eco-friendly foods, engine cleaners and etc.

6 years since the introduction of Green Card, this product has been issued to approximately 15 million people in Korea and last November, an upgraded version ‘Green Card v2’ was launched to commemorate the 5-year anniversary of its issuance.

With the collaborative efforts from Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and KEITI, BC Green Card customers who were able to receive discount offers on eco-friendly industrial products only, will be able to get discounts on eco-friendly farm products as well.

The MOU signing ceremony will be held in Seoul Olympic Parktel on February 24th. Jong Jin Chae, Vice President of BC Card, Chung Seop Lee, Vice-Minister of Environment, Joon Won Lee, Vice-Minister of Agriculture and Kwang Hee Nam, Head of KEITI will be present at the event.

BC Card plans to give a presentation on the accomplishments of the Green Card system, proclaim a new vision, and sign an MOU with KEITI, China IEEPA (International Ecological Economy Promotion Association) and BGIT (Beijing Global Index Technology Company) to create a Green Card business model and build system in China.

Jong Jin Chae, VP of BC Card stated, “BC Green Card is a must-have item to live a smart and eco-friendly economic life. Beginning with this MOU and vision proclamation, BC Card plans to continue its support on diverse government policies to reduce greenhouse gas and foster environment-friendly economic eco-system.”
