BC Card to Participate in State-led Big Data Project with KT
The KT Consortium formed by BC Card (President and CEO Chae Jong-jin, www.bccard.com), KT, Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency, and Korea Center for Disease Control & Prevention (KCDC) has been selected as the implementer of the 2017 Big Data Flagship Project. The Big Data Flagship Project is aimed at discovering and propagating successful cases of utilizing big data that can contribute to resolving a wide variety of pending social issues. The KT Consortium has been assigned the Project on Establishing a System to Prevent the Spread of Human and Animal Infectious Diseases Using Big Data. BC Card will be joining efforts with the other members of the consortium to build a system for identifying the route of movement and the persons that the affected individuals have come into contact with in collaboration with KCDC by analyzing its own card usage data and KT’s communication data in the event of an outbreak of a human infectious disease. In the case of infectious diseases affecting animals, KT (IoT technology) will work with the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency to keep electronic records of visits to farms and create a database based on these records. Kim Jin-cheol, the Director of the Marketing Division at BC Card, said, “It brings great pleasure to the people at BC Card to be able to contribute to a public service project by using our card data and analytical technology. […] We will make our utmost efforts to use our big data in various other fields in the future to further benefit society.” |
