BC Card identifies new 'voice phishing' and prevents damage to customers
BC Card (CEO Lee Moon-hwan) recently identified a new voice phishing withdrawal method linked to a foreign merchant to prevent damage to customers. The new voice phishing occurred mainly at overseas franchises based in China and Macau, South East and South Asia. Criminals used the method of withdrawing money from foreign countries or purchasing luxury goods from famous foreign brand shops, rather than withdrawing the money they received from the victims directly from Korea, using their bankbooks. BC Card recently detected high overseas sales of new voice phishing products through the Fraud Detection System (FDS) to prevent customer damage in advance. This is the result of intensive monitoring of foreign franchises whose high sales linked to voice phishing continue to occur. Not only BC Card customers but also potential voice phishing victims' financial losses could be prevented. The secret lies in 'FDS Advancement'. Although FDS has been focusing on detecting fraudulent use by third parties, it has recently expanded its target of detecting FDS in order to proactively respond to the growing variety of financial fraud types. It also developed its own FDS technology 100 percent. Through the application of new technologies such as AI analysis, the government has strengthened monitoring of fraudulent use at home and abroad, and has been able to proactively respond to prevention of crimes related to credit cards by learning the latest trend of fraudulent use. It also shares a new set of financial crime methods that are more diverse and evolved through FDS monitoring staff training on a regular basis. "BC Card has proactively responded to the latest financial fraud by incorporating new technologies into the FDS sector," said Lee Gang-hyuk, Senior Executive Vice President of BC Card's Business Service Group. "We will do our best to actively deal with new financial fraud crimes in the future so that there will be no victims of good faith." Meanwhile, BC Card received the National Police Agency Commissioner General's auditor's award last year for his close cooperation with the National Police Agency in training related to `credit card crime and response techniques` `credit card crime investigation manual`, participation in online education contents, and prevention of new kinds of financial crimes. Recently, BC Card has participated in research activities at the National Police Agency's "Fraud Prevention Research Center" to help protect consumers and ordinary people who are affected by financial scams. |
