BC Card (CEO Lee Dong-myun) will complete the establishment of Green-POS, a payment system exclusively for Green Card, at Goodwill Store, which employs disabled people and sells recycled products, and will take the lead in eco-friendly consumption activities.

"Green-POS," which was established in collaboration with BC Card and the Korea Environmental Industry Technology Institute, refers to a system that sets aside a certain percentage of the payment amount as eco-money points when purchasing eco-friendly products with green cards. Eco-friendly certification marks on product such as environmental signs, low carbon, and carbon footprint will be automatically recognized by card payment terminals and they are currently applied to 40,000 member stores nationwide, including Galleria Department Store, Hanaro Mart, and CU convenience stores.

The "Goodwill Store," which is applied with the "Green-POS," is a recycling store run by the Miral Welfare Foundation, commercializing and selling clothes, books and home appliances donated by individuals, companies and institutions to consumers. Currently, nine branches across the country provide jobs for about 250 disabled people and help them become economically independent.

"We expect the application of 'Green-POS' to Goodwill Store to show that environmental protection and social values can be realized even in customers' daily consumption," said Cho Yong-moon, head of BC Card's second sales division. "In the future, BC Card will provide customers with various differentiated services to promote low carbon consumption as well as shared and cyclical economy consumption."
