BC Card announced on the 5th that it has appointed Choi Won-seok, CEO of FnPricing Inc., as its new CEO.

Choi is a financial and data convergence expert who established FnGuide, a Korea's first company that integrated evaluation engine for financial products, pioneering the financial information distribution industry, and established FnPricing, which combined finance and IT in asset assessment business.

In addition, he has served as an outside director of BC Card for the past six years and is considered as the right figure to transform BC Card into a data company with a high understanding and experience in overall management.

Choi also has extensive experience and knowledge in various financial sectors, including economic research institutes, securities firms and asset assessment business. As a leading figure in financial innovation at the front line, he is expected to promote financial synergy with K-Bank in earnest and establish a specialized comprehensive financial strategy for KT Group.

A BC Card official said, "He has established financial information distribution company and asset assessment company in the past, and has developed them into a leading company by preemptively introducing the convergence of finance and IT, which has emerged as a key competitive power." "With the experience, he will lead BC Card to become a successful digital data company," he said.

Choi said, "In the MyData* era, we will continue to increase the competitiveness of the existing card business by combining BC Card's broad payment, commerce, financial infrastructure and KT Group's advanced AI and big data capabilities."

Meanwhile, born in 1963, he majored in international economics at Seoul National University. He then got a master's degree in economics from Sogang University and MBA from New York University Stern School of Business. Since he joined the Korea Securities Institute in 1988, he has served as the head of the Long-term Credit Bank's Financial Research Institute, Samsung Securities' Management Team, FnGuide CFO and Head of Financial Research Institute, and FnPricing CEO.

BC Card will officially appoint Choi as its CEO after a general meeting of shareholders and a board of directors meeting next month.
